If I do the noise reduction through my PC's video card, I find that it kills the noise/grain movement, but doesn't create the wax museum effect either. Most of the time.

No it's the new VCI version...I never got the BU BD. I was so distracted by it, and could not adjust my set for it. The bulk of it looks great but when it's bad it's oh so bad.

I dunno. The worst section is the nighttime attack in the fog. The grain clumps and gobs up all over the place. Some other sections just look extremely grainy. Maybe the really bad section is video...
